LLC “AGROFIRM OSTROZHKA” — a promising, actively developing company, established in 1960. Since 2014, we have started to implement the principles of organic farming. Our agricultural lands are located in an ecologically clean area of the Perm region. The territory of the farm is located on the right bank of the Kama River, on the slopes of the Okhanskaya upland.
The main areas of work of our company are organic crop production, dairy cattle breeding, raw milk production.
In search of environmentally friendly ways to increase the fertility of the land and, as a result, increase yields, we got acquainted with the methodology of the Russian agronomist I.E.Ovsinsky, which is described in his book “The New system of agriculture”. Ivan Evgenievich Ovsinsky described the theory in detail more than a century ago and proved in practice that it is possible in the climatic conditions of Ukraine, the Urals, Siberia to obtain harvests of 40-50 quintals per hectare only on natural soil fertility. He completely abandoned plowing the land with plows and switched to minimal, soil-protective cultivation of the land. Since 2017, he has been working on this farming system.
All land cultivation is carried out to a depth of no more than 7 cm, without turnover of the formation. For these purposes, we use two- and four-row disc harrows. To combat weeds, we use cultivators-flat cutters, introduce clean and sideral pairs into crop rotation.
Spring pre-sowing treatment consists of two to three times cultivation. The interval between each operation is 5-7 days. Sowing is carried out 2-3 weeks later than other farms with AUP-18.07 seeders. The coulters of these seeders are made in the form of flat-cutter paws. By doing this, we additionally prune the weed, depressing its root system. The seeds fall to the depth of cultivation, i.e. on dense, moist, well-warmed soil, and, regardless of weather conditions, give very friendly shoots for 5-6 days.
It is worth mentioning about the climatic conditions in the Perm Region. The temperate continental climate prevails mainly. Winters are frosty and long, summers are cool and short. The average annual temperature is 2.1°C. About 630 mm of precipitation falls per year, the maximum amount of precipitation usually falls in June-August. In winter, the height of the snow cover is about 60 cm. The soil cover is mainly represented by sod-podzolic soils.
We have been working in certified organic production since 2019. Organic agriculture is gaining momentum every year, opening up new opportunities for us. Sooner or later, everyone will start thinking about their health. And organic agriculture is one of the key factors influencing the improvement of the quality of life of every person. Positive emotions are caused by the fact that the legislative authorities, after long discussions, adopted the Federal Law “On Organic products …”. We are optimists and believe that there will be demand for organic products in our country in the near future, but for now we are mainly focused on exports, these are our realities. Today we use all kinds of platforms to inform people about what organic farming is. In addition, we help all those who are interested in this topic and want to produce healthy, high-quality food.
